The AFFCAD Uganda Entrepreneurship Scheme
Financial poverty is extremely common in Bwaise (one of the largest and poorest distressed communities of Kampala, Uganda). Countless young people in Bwaise run their own small businesses for a living, like fish and chicken farming to chip and chapati frying, but the vast majority do so in the absence of adequate formal education or business skills training. To make matters worse, lockdown restrictions under COVID-19 have rendered many of their businesses unsustainable by increasing the prices of sale items and limiting owners’ working hours.
That’s where the AFFCAD Uganda Entrepreneurship Scheme comes in. AFFCAD’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Employability Scheme Plus (YEES+) empowers young people by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. It trains them to be aware of their own unique strengths, to avoid recklessly diving into any new business idea, and to build strong social networks of supportive others.
The YEES+ now manages to equip over 1,000 youths with life-changing business skills every year. And through the help of donations to the charity, the program goes even further by providing hundreds of young entrepreneurs with startup capital and equipment every year. You can become an extremely valuable contributor to the success of young entrepreneurs in Bwaise by donating to AFFCAD UK now.
